Hello world!

High-fives for stopping by! Never too late to start right?? #newbieblogger #betterlatethannever

I’m guessing you’re thinking “fongosbongos” what is that?  Well, first half was a nickname in HS (fongo) and bongos, well, you’ll soon learn that I’m a fun-level of crazy (or at least that;’s what I tell myself) and just love everything that life has to offer!

I have to say this whole blogging thing is no cake walk.  I’m learning random jargon, but I’m sure it’ll be easier as time progresses.  If you have any suggestions, please feel free to point me in that direction!

Any who…I love to be creative and make things, not limited to only crafts, but anything that I can build, bake, create, knocking down walls, chopping random trees down (almost killed myself – so don’t do that without a licensed professional), etc…

DIY outdoor sink!

Ok, down to business!  My latest creation was pandemic-borne.  While my heart ached that kids everywhere had to stay home/ continuing to stay home, I thought long and hard as to how to overcome this issue for playdates.

My solutions were:

1. only pool dates (chlorine sort of kills right? don’t quote me, but check with CDC – but now pools are closing up)

2. be outdoors and social distance

3. hand-washing before starting any activity

Ta-da!  My outdoor sink that cost about $3 (excluding the items I had on hand – maybe $12 tops)!  I used an old planter and figured out the diameter and then made a 3-D box for it and voila!  I finished the look with a homemade label from my Cricut and an old piece of wood that was lying around.  Excuse my messy workspace lol #reuse  #diy #handwashing

Items list:

Wood: I used treat pressured wood and non-treated wood just to see the difference.  I would highly recommend using the non-treated wood because it’ll be sturdier for your flower pot.  Update: mine are still holding up well, so either or will be fine.

Stain: I used and oil-based stain: MinWax Dark Walnut. Personally, for outdoor furniture/ projects I mainly use oil-based. I have used water-based for outdoor and it has kept up nicely.
